Websites

A website should offer value, encourage engagement, and inspire action. You can’t do any of those things without the right content and user experience. I’ve led content strategy, content development, and content management for more than 70 websites across a range of industries. My superpower is the ability to organize massive amounts of information while making mundane topics interesting and complex concepts easy to understand. I approach each project with tenacity, precision, and creativity, whether building a new site from the ground up or giving an old site a fresh coat of paint.

Protective

Protective

In 2020, I led website content migration, new content development, and QA testing for the redesign of protective.com. Moving to the Sitecore platform allowed for more efficient content management, accessibility, and scalability.

I continue to manage content for protective.com, working closely with user experience designers and developers.

Brightwood College & Virginia College

Brightwood College & Virginia College

The We Are Brightwood and We Are VC websites provided an inside look at the Brightwood College and Virginia College communities through photos, interviews, and behind-the-scenes videos. Students, graduates, faculty, and staff shared what motivated them to succeed and how they overcame obstacles. The sites also allowed visitors to submit their own photos and stories of success. We Are VC was a finalist for Best Special Topic Issue in the 2017 Content Marketing Awards, a national competition hosted by the Content Marketing Institute.

I was responsible for concepting and creative direction, project management, copywriting, editing, and user experience.

Yogurt Mountain

Yogurt Mountain

Let’s face it: some projects are just more fun than others. The Yogurt Mountain website was one of those projects. I made sure the messaging was on point for this fun brand and extended that sense of whimsy to the descriptions for each of their unique flavors. Our team may have also treated ourselves to a bowl (or two) of delicious fro-yo in the process.

I was responsible for content organization, copywriting, and editing. I also worked closely with the designers on user experience.

Alabama Tourism

Alabama Tourism

Bringing new life to the Alabama Tourism Department website was an incredibly fulfilling project. We worked tirelessly to create a content-rich, interactive experience for travelers, which made our recognition for the site by the 2013 Content Marketing Awards that much sweeter. The website received three honors: Gold - Best Overall Design, Bronze - Best Overall Website (one of the award show’s highest-level categories; Gold went to Google and Silver to Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts), and Honorable Mention - Best Landing Page. After the site launched, email subscribers increased 158% and vacation guide orders increased nearly 20%.

I worked on this project from concept to completion and beyond, starting with a complete content audit, gap and competitive analyses, leading the content organization, collaborating on user experience, and spearheading the copywriting and editing of hundreds of location descriptions.

Alabama Power

Alabama Power

As the operator of 14 hydro facilities across the state of Alabama, Alabama Power wanted a one-stop shop for lake residents and visitors. The Shorelines website provides critical information for water safety and recreation.

For this website, I completed a content audit, performed a gap analysis, outlined the content organization, wrote and edited copy, and worked closely with the design team on user experience. Have you ever wondered how much 2,086 hippos weigh? Well, I got to find out while working on this project!

The Lofts at Prince

The Lofts at Prince

This upscale New York City event space needed copy that would help their new website compete in the crowded New York City event planning arena.

With limited time and budget, I was able to gather information about their business goals and brand voice, perform some basic keyword research, and write SEO-friendly copy. The new site copy stays true to their brand voice, provides clear information for potential customers, and helped the site secure a spot on page one of search results for several targeted keywords.

Brasfield & Gorrie

Brasfield & Gorrie

In November 2013, Brasfield & Gorrie announced the launch of its new corporate website. The new site included an extensive project library, a more user-friendly navigation, and incredible visual footage of real construction sites.

For this project, I completed a comprehensive content audit and competitive analysis, outlined content organization, wrote and edited copy, and worked closely with the design team on overall user experience.

Moving On

Moving On

A solid web presence is critical for any business, but especially for smaller businesses like this Birmingham moving company. Using a simple and clean template, I built a site that highlights the company’s services and what sets it apart from the competition.

In addition to site design, I was responsible for keyword research, copywriting, and ongoing site maintenance.
